Bratislava Live! Five daily vlogs from the Polyglot Gathering 2017

By Gareth 2 Comments

Hello from Slovakia’s lovely capital city.  The fourth annual Polyglot Gathering, a meeting for language lovers of all hues, has moved here for the first time to a new venue: Bratislava’s Economics University.  I’ve covered each previous Gathering (from Berlin) extensively on the site….last year I vlogged from there for the first time.  This year I’m trying my hand at daily vlogging.  I hope you enjoy the unfolding story (and if you do, please show your support by subscribing to the Howtogetfluent YouTube Channel).

Scroll to the very bottom for the very first video and work your way up.

UPDATE: Saturday 10th June – the vlog from Sunday 4th June, the Final Day at the Polyglot Gathering: more stimulating talks, an attempt at the Slovak language record, the closing ceremony and wrap-ups from fellow Gathering-goers

So that’s it: a full set of five vlogs.  It was very full-on creating the first four during the conference but I’m so glad I did it.  Many thanks for watching.  Don’t forget to subscribe to the H2GF YouTube channel.

UPDATE: Tuesday 6th June

It’s all over.  I’m happy, tired and a little bit sad at the same time.  Yesterday I went on a trip with a group of attendees to two castles: Bojnice and Trenčín.  Today I’ve been exploring the sights of Bratislava.  I’ve had computer problems too over the last couple of days, due to too many video clips clogging the memory.  Things are now working well again and the final daily vlog (Sunday/Day 4) will appear within the next few days.  Keep a look out and thanks for watching! 🙂

Saturday 3rd June: talks, languages, photographic manoeuvres, the speakers’ dinner and a concert put on by participants

Friday 2nd June: the Gathering is in full swing with new and established speakers…and the day finishes with a magician’s show

Thursday 1st June: the talks kick off, people make mistakes, Danes do Swedish and it gets hot and sticky at the International Culinary Festival

Wednesday 31 May: registration, dinner in the canteen and the Opening Ceremony
