Hi Brandon! Both are possible – perfective would suggest she’d already said goodbye rather than “was saying” goodbye, but I agree that the imperfective seems a more probable scenario, esp as I’d put “was saying” in brackets after “said” in the translation. I’ve now changed it so that it’s clear that we’r dealing with the keys dropping while she was saying goodbye – keys dropping is a completed event, but the saying goodbye is continuing.
